The Global Bank Disaster Risk Reduction and Reconstruction Fund – An Umbrella Trust Fund (the “Trust Fund,” “GB DRRRF,” or “DRRRF”) governing structure represents a unique model for multi-stakeholder engagement. Stakeholders are invited to participate in meetings of the DRRRF Board of Directors and Sub-Committees as Observers in order to help promote sound and transparent decision making, efficient use of resources, and complementarily with other sources of financing.

Observers are drawn from civil society organizations (CSOs), the private sector, and indigenous peoples’ groups and government. Representatives from organizations such as the African Development Bank, Asian Development Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, European Investment Bank, Inter-American Development Bank, Islamic Development Bank, and the World Bank are also invited to observe meetings. Additionally, any Member of any DRRRF Sub-Committees who is not a Member of the DRRRF Board of Directors is invited to observe DRRRF Board of Directors meetings.

To promote the participation of Observers in the DRRRF Board of Directors and Sub-Committee meetings and catalyze their engagement in the DRRRF process, The Global Bank Disaster Risk Reduction and Reconstruction Fund – An Umbrella Trust Fund has developed Guidelines for Inviting Representatives of Civil Society to Observe Meetings of the DRRRF Board of Directors.
