Walter E. Gaskin of USA took office as the Managing Director in Charge of Operation Management Complex of Global Bank on July 16, 2014.

Mr. Gaskin as the Managing Director in charge of the Management Complex, Global Bank is responsible for ensuring that the Bank's internal operations, policies and systems are designed and implemented to maximize development activities in line with the commitment to make the Global Bank Group an open, results-based and effective organization.

Mr. Gaskin's core activities of the Management Complex are aimed at ensuring that Countries can access the best global economic expertise and help generate cutting-edge knowledge for promoting sustainable economic development. Key priorities include delivering measurable results, promoting openness and transparency in development and improving access to development information and data.

Under Mr. Gaskin's leadership, the Office of the Managing Director in Charge of the Management Complex will emphasis the United Nation's Millennium Development Goals..... ending extreme property by 2030....closing the growing Global Infrastructure Funding Gap... maintaining Economic Sovereignty notwithstanding the perils of Climate Change.

The Managing Director in Charge of the Management Complex additionally is responsibility for coordinating work on gender integration, by promoting gender equality and empowerment of women doing economic policy development... This is especially relevant in Fragile and Conflicted Affected States. Under the direction of the Chairman of the Board of Governors, the Managing Director will work with countries to collect,analyze and distribute practical knowledge to boost sustainable economic development.

Career Highlights

Lieutenant General Walter E. Gaskin,(retired) from the United States Marines Corps on November 1, 2013 having completed 39 years of service. Most recently, Lieutenant General Gaskin served as the Deputy Chairman, NATO Military Committee, Brussels, Belgium, March 22, 2010 - September 20, 2013. Lieutenant General Gaskin served as the Commanding General of the 2nd Marine Division at Camp Lejeune, NC, June 2006 - July 2008. In addition to this role, he simultaneously served as the Commanding General of II Marine Expeditionary Force (FORWARD). During this tour, Lieutenant General Gaskin led II MEF (FWD) during its year-long deployment to Al Anbar Province, Iraq as the Commanding General of Multinational Forces-West, in charge of 35,000 United States Marines, Soldiers, Sailors, and Airmen.

Additional Assignments as a General Officer includes Vice Director of The Joint Staff, Washington, D.C. July 2008 -May 2009, Commanding General Marine Corps Recruiting Command, Quantico, VA July 2004 - May 2009, Chief of Staff, Naval Striking and Supporting Forces-Europe, Naples, Italy 2002 to 2004, Commanding General Training and Education Command,Quantico, March 2000.

Military and Civilian Education

The United States Army Command and General Staff College, at Leavenworth,KS, The Army War College, Carlisle Barracks, at Carlisle, PA, The Combined/Joint Force Land Component Command(C/JFLCC) Course, Carlisle Barracks, Carlisle, PA.

Mr. Gaskins graduated from Savannah States University's NROTC Scholarship Program with a Bachelor of Science in 1974. Mr. Gaskin also earned a Master's Degree in Public Administration from the University of Oklahoma and completed the Senior Executive Seminar from the JFK School of Government, from Harvard University
