Dr. Roy Athanas Karaoglan, Ph.D. has held various positions at International Finance Corporation (IFC), the private sector arm of the World Bank Group, including Associate Director of Credit Review Department, Senior Banking Advisor and Chief Banking Specialist. He also served as Senior Banking Specialist for Africa at the World Bank from 1988 to 1991.

Full Biography
In his role as former Chief Senior Banking Specialist at the IFC he was responsible for investment/credit decisions for IFC in new and existing financial institutions worldwide, which accounted for 40% of the Corporation's total investments portfolio. Those investments included various types of debt and equity investments in new and existing financial institutions, privatization of leading banks and joint venture with international banks. Mr. Karaoglan was also responsible for conducting policy dialogs with central bank officials, bank regulators and very senior government officials in the process of appraising and assessing the health of the banking systems in 88 countries, which includes strategic and systemic credit risk assessments of high-risk countries and regions. Mr. Karaoglan has been serving on various boards and committees including Independent Commissioner of the PT Bank OCBC NISP Tbk, the Hana Bank, the Capital Bank of Jordan, the Hana Financial Group, the ProCredit Holding AG. and Vseobecna Uverova Banka AS.
