Walter E. Gaskin of USA took office as the Managing Director in Charge of the Operation Management Complex of Global Bank. Gaskin is one of four managing directors who assist the president in the broad oversight of the Global Bank. Each of the managing directors oversees several organizational units.
The Operation Management Complex is responsible for ensuring that the Bank’s internal operations, policies and systems are designed and aligned to maximize impact, in line with the commitment to make the Global Bank an open, results-based and effective organization. The Complex’s emphasis on results, accountability, transparency, governance and the open development paradigm present the opportunity, mandate, and resources to improve the quality of relationships and interaction with stakeholders and clients worldwide.
Mr. Gaskin’s core activities of the Management Complex are aimed at ensuring that Countries can access the best global economic expertise and help generate cutting-edge knowledge for promoting sustainable economic development. Key priorities include delivering measurable results, promoting openness and transparency in development and improving access to development information and data.
Prior to joining Global Bank Group Walter E. Gaskin served as a Lieutenant General at the United States Marines Corps on November 1, 2013 having completed 39 years of service. Most recently, Lieutenant General Gaskin served as the Deputy Chairman, NATO Military Committee, Brussels, Belgium, March 22, 2010 - September 20, 2013. Lieutenant General Gaskin served as the Commanding General of the 2nd Marine Division at Camp Lejeune, NC, June 2006 – July 2008. In addition to this role, he simultaneously served as the Commanding General of II Marine Expeditionary Force (FORWARD). During this tour, Lieutenant General Gaskin led II MEF (FWD) during its year-long deployment to Al Anbar Province, Iraq as the Commanding General of Multinational Forces-West, in charge of 35,000 United States Marines, Soldiers, Sailors, and Airmen.
